Because it's an inner city public ghetto jihad class...
True story from my friend Hillary, 6th grade teacher:
"What is our satellite?" (Correct answer, the Moon)
Child says, "Urf." Hillary says, "Spell that, please."
Child says, "U R F. Urf."
Funny, but sad.
I believe it. Nothing surprises me about what comes through teachers classrooms any more. There is no way I'd be a teacher.
I'm working with a little one right now who has never been in a school and is pretty damn smart and clever. She is 4 now, and will never make it to school. But she spells better than some adults!
I think it's important for a child to have a religious foundation, but school isn't the place for it. It's fir that book lernin stuffs. Teaching religion and faith is the responsibilty and loving duty of the parents. Too much can go wrong otherwise. I joke about Fr Lyle and idiot hillbilly monkey boy with bladder problem, but it does illustrate how vulnerable minds can be easily convinced to drink the kool aid. Want religious teaching in school? Send to parochial school.
