I started this thread because I watch The First 48. Almost ALL of the crimes they cover are black on black or Hispanic crimes. Every now and then it will be poor whites, but rarely. I was thinking, "Is this racist? All they show is black people/illegal immigrants shooting or stabbing each other." But it isn't racist. They don't write the story, they just film it. They film in certain high crime areas in higher crime cities, and those just happen to be areas full of black folks and Hispanics. I know there is white crime, just not enough in one area to film an entire season of the show.
So is the truth racism? No. It is just the truth. Some folks need to think very hard about how they react to the world around them and how they create their own victimhood. Same goes for any person who lives in fear or in a shitty neighborhood.
They should be pissed off their kids aren't safe. They should be angry at the members of their community who end up in prison or have children they can't feed. They should be angry at the members of the community who commit crimes and make it dangerous to own a business or home in a black community. Someday they will figure out that THEY are the man keeping themselves down.
I love soul food and jazz. If the folks would stop killing each other in the streets, I would come by more often to have some ribs. As it stands, there are places I will visit with adult friends, but not with my kids. And NEVER at night.
