The reason I like to transcribe the interviews is that the news media likes their "sound bites" and they don't always get the whole story when they print the interview under the video.

Stephanie Stone: "Fairfield police didn't take much when they searched Katelyn's fiance's house, tonight he says he gave consent, he's doing whatever he can to help even though he feels as if the entire community is pointing fingers and placing blame on him."
Carter: "People are gonna say what they're gonna say, you can't stop 'em."
Stone: "Twenty-three year old John Carter may not be able to stop the comments, but he can certainly make sure that people know how he feels."
Carter: "I'm not gonna acknowledge, um, the ridiculous things that people are saying because I know, (clears throat) I mean, nobody's gonna know about me. They don't know me, and, uh, I know me. I know that I would never hurt Katelyn ever in a million years."
Stone: "Katelyn Markham, his fiance and girlfriend of six years flat-out disappeared nearly two weeks ago. Since then, there have been search parties, a vigil, and an investigation. Fairfield police have little evidence and no suspects."
Carter: "That's pretty much it. There's, there's nothing. And it's...horrific."
Stone: "Carter was the last person to see her, they were at her home on Dorshire Drive. He says he left before midnight. But aside from a text he received from her a short time later, no one has seen or heard from Katelyn. Carter felt the animosity towards him when he was confronted while passing-out fliers."
Carter: "I guess he didn't know who I was and he was just like, 'I heard the boyfriend did it.' And just, I was just like, 'I'm the boyfriend (Left hand points at his chest) I would never do anything to hurt her."
Stone: "And while the days without Katelyn continue, he finds comfort in her cat, Ramsey, and her artwork.
Bolding mine. If you were casually watching, you might miss that slip. He actually says "no one's gonna know about me". Maybe he meant, "no one knows me" but that is not what he said.
