The man confessed to being involved in the dismemberment and the disposal of the body — but not the murder, Canterbury said. But police believe the person in custody is responsible for her death and acted alone. A cause of death has yet to be determined. Authorities are waiting on autopsy results from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's office.
"We're preparing a homicide warrant but it will be up to the prosecutors what the charges will be," Canterbury said.
The 52-year-old and Prpich knew each other, Canterbury said, but it was unclear if they were friends.
The man is expected to be arraigned Friday in 33rd District Court in Woodhaven.
