The murders could have been avoided. All the cops had to do was do their damn job. They were called by the bank after the mom told the teller what was going on.

I've always thought that too. Didn't a massive amount of time pass between the time they left the bank & the time the fire was started? I'll have to go back & check but I do know they sat outside twiddling their thumbs for what seemed like forever. I'm sure they have a good excuse though.
