During a Wednesday afternoon media update, Captain Mike Trice said Robert was last seen about 150 yards from the North Anna River, which is on the northern border of the battlefield. That's where Trice said tracking dogs picked up Robert's scent near the river. The dogs have not yet picked up the scent in any other location.
Crews in kayaks and dive teams scoured the river Wednesday for any signs of the boy. In fact, Trice said crews searched upriver and downriver -- all the way to Route 30 -- without finding any sign of the boy.
Also, Trice said law enforcement worked with Lake Anna officials to lower river levels to assist in the search of deeper areas.
Officials said none of the survival packs throughout the woods had been been disturbed.
