I think the point is made by the 80⁄20 rule
80% of the kids coming from a great background turn out to be good people.
20% of the kids coming from a shitty place turn out to be good people.
People only acquire personal responsibility if they:
A. Know it exists
B. Are taught how to get there

Been away forever! Took my whole Christmas break to catch up! Oh I have missed this site! Anyway I agree with the 80⁄20 idea! I see parents spoon feed and give everything to their kids just to have them fall flat on their face and then the parents pick them up and start all over again. Then these parents ask why. Ugh everyday of my life except breaks and summer I see this!
