Each year they lower the standards so the rate of descent isn't as obvious. College graduates tend to have worse educations than high school graduates did 100 years ago.

I'd really like to see some statistics about that (and I'm too lazy to look it up). It seems to me that highschool (and middle school) standards are MUCH higher than they were when I was in either. I think I completed Algebra 1 in highschool and was accepted in to a 4 year college back in the day. Unheard of now. My kids will be taking Algebra 1 in 8^th grade.
