I think I've said it elsewhere but except in very extreme cases, I have a hard time with the idea of locking a kid up for life. It seems like there ought to be a middle ground between charging someone as a juvenile or as an adult.
"The Rodriguez youth is a student in the Oregon Schools Alternative Placement Program. Oregon Superintendent Michael Zalar said the program is for students with "severe behavior problems." He declined to comment on the Rodriguez youth.
Court officials said it appears the Rodriguez youth did not pull the trigger, but he is charged with murder because they believe he was complicit in the robbery, which led to Hunter's death.
Court documents, filed in Toledo Municipal Court, accuse Mr. Daly of 3956 Plumey Rd. of shooting Hunter. Mr. Daly was arrested Saturday; he is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $1 million bond."
No shit, "severe behavior problems". He is already in a program designed to help him. What else can the public be expected to do about home problems?
Kids don't just turn out that way. I would like to bitch slap his mom.
