He was sentenced to 30 days, but the sentence was immediately appealed by his attorney, and he was allowed to go free until the appeal would be heard. I guess the US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) decided that he didn’t need to wait around for those pending charges, and allowed him to go back to Australia. He left the US on Jan. 19, according to ICE, and is back in Australia.
