You know, that's actually a nice tribute, I don't find it to be on the level of a lunatic.

People have friends and this person was a friend to johnny no matter what life style they shared.

I think the point is that somebody's mother insists the middle class young lady's friends and family are to blame, not the behavior/acquaintances her own hoodrat son.
