Alot of cops are turning to tasers as a quick ender to confrontation regardless of risk and hazards in doing it.
I can understand if a cops life or someone elses is in danger or if the cop is up against someone that has an advantage.Using this type of force on a 100 lb girl because he didn't feel like running that day is pure stupidity, or a cop will use it on a woman because she doesn't want to get out of her car.
A taser is a potentially lethal tool, partially because of the shock it delivers to the human body but also the danger it puts that person in to depending on their environment. A police officer needs to treat it as such and be aware of the potential risk it carries to whom ever they use it on.
This is as dumb as a box of rocks, every police officer who carries a taser has been tased , they have extensive training courses in regards to their use and and their legal obligations when it is used they qualify with it regularly just like their duty weapon.
tasers are considered non lethal force that's why we carry guns, those are lethal force, it's a tough choice sometimes to tase a guy when you would really rather shoot him but as usual we try to be nice.
I am not saying dont use tasers I am saying dont use them in a situation where you could easily control with some physical force. A 200lb guy tasering a drugged up 100lb girl because he was too lazy to just tackle her is stupidity.
If you have the mindset of wishing you could shoot someone over tasering because they pissed you off. You shouldn't remain a cop or you became one for the wrong reasons.
