A body was found tied into a quilt and stuffed under a trailer Monday afternoon at the El Paso Mobile Home Community at 15 El Paso Blvd. near Manitou Springs.
The trailer had been the residence of a man who was arrested in February for allegedly robbing a nearby pizza shop with a machete.
Bob Derge, a workman, was removing skirting from the trailer to ready it for a move when he found the body. He said he didn’t realize what he found was human until he pulled back the quilt and saw hair and an ear.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death, but offered few details Monday.
“Obviously, finding a body under a trailer is suspicious,” said sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Mike Schaller.
