That architecture is fantastic! How cool it must be to tour all those awesome structures.

there is a book called "Pillars of the Earth" about a man who was a stone carver and helped build an ancient medieval cathedral. they took many years of labor and art. flying buttresses for example, had to be planned scientifically to bear the weight. it's a fascinating book.
it was a pretty good TV series also.
