Yes, they do have personalities & not only do they bond with each other they will bond with the people who take care of them. They are all retired racehorses except for the one I ride almost exclusively, he was bred to be a racehorse but when he was born a colt I lobbied for him...hard! He's bad sometimes but I hide his badness otherwise I have to listen to a bunch of shit about getting him gelded, that ain't happening, no fuckin' way.
