Gentz’s court hearing postponed until May

Friday’s scheduled preliminary examination for a former Macomb County man charged in Jane Bashara's murder has been adjourned because his mental evaluation has not been completed.
The hearing for Joseph Gentz was postponed until May 4 in 36th District Court in Detroit to give state psychiatrists time to evaluate Gentz on whether he is competent to assist in his defense, according to prosecuting and defense attorneys. The case has not yet been assigned to a judge, attorneys said....
