So, it was a real girlfriend you were describing? Makes more sense. Some of us women have no problem with a lot of time apart and actually require it, but our boyfriends/lovers don't exactly appreciate it (until we find the right one, hook up with someone who travels a lot, or engage in long distance relationships). I don't think it's a "female" insecurity or trust issue; been on your side of that fence many times with some pretty strong men on the other side. But, I don't consider it "their problem"; just an incompatability that's hard to overcome.
