A pilot travelling alone from Louisiana to Florida who flew spiraling in the sky for more than two hours before dropping into the Gulf of Mexico has been named as Dr. Peter Hertzak, 65, of Slidell, Louisiana.
Originally born in Zagreb, Croatia, Dr Hertzak leaves behind a wife Diana Gillmore and children Peter, 40 and Allison, 24.
The experience surgeon is credited with performing more than 2000 procedures in his career and opened his own surgical center in 2006 in New Orleans.
