You saw a bloody head. Maybe he hit himseld in the back of the head with the gun after he chased that poor innocent kid down and murdered him in cold blood.

Or maybe you are wrong...

So I guess Zimmerman ran up to him to shoot him. Because when you have a gun, you get as close as possible to the person, especially if you are really scared. Hence the powder burns...
