ROCKPORT, Mass. -- Massachusetts State Police have found no evidence to support the theory that a 2-year-old girl who disappeared while playing at Rockport beach since last week could have been abducted, officials said Wednesday.
Crews on land and in the water have been searching for Caleigh Anne Harrison, who was last seen Thursday off Rockport's Long Beach. The child's relatives have expressed concern that the girl may have been abducted.
"At this point we have investigated the theory of abduction," Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said. "We have interviewed four witnesses who were in the vicinity of the girl when she went missing. We have not been able to establish that there was anyone else in the vicinity that could have been responsible for an abduction."
A state police boat used side-scan sonar to search the area again Wednesday, and state police said they would continue the search Thursday.
