It was kind of vice versa for me - It took years of occupying my time with sketching ideas for my own garden and those of friends and reading up on it as a hobby before I realized that this is what I really want to spend my professional life with, so after having gone a few other directions first, I finally decided to sign up at uni a few years ago.

The 'bringing it to life' part is what really fascinates me. A garden is a living thing, so it constantly changes and evolves. A plan on paper is one thing and has a beauty on its own when being done right, but carrying it out in a way that the idea behind it will be visible even years from its creation - that's the real joy imo.
