I don't think you would say that if you had to worry about a break-in every time you went to work. You don't live in a high-crime neighborhood. It isn't stalking when someone is watching to make sure you don't steal something. It is a sad fact of life.

Go look at the prom pics again. Most of the ones with whitey are in a nice park, everybody looks happy, they are clear and bright. I didn't post most of those because they look like the prom pics we all have. Not everybody lives like that.
