KATC
A big development in the Mickey Shunick case with Lafayette Police confirming to KATC Sunday that they found Mickey's bicycle.
It was found 30 miles away from where Mickey was last seen, beneath the Whiskey Bay I-10 bridge, at exit 127 in Iberville Parish. Investigators spent much of the day there looking for more clues, but still no sign of Mickey.
By air, on the water and in the woods, several law enforcement agencies ramped up search efforts after two fishermen found Mickey's bike under the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
"We've expanded as wide as we feel comfortable. We don't miss anything, so it's quite a large area down there beneath the bridge and as well as the river," said Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton. "They're checking further down the river as well as in close proximity to the bridge."
