GOODFELLAS~the real Henry Hill
#6
Well once you get past the obvious choices: Goodfellas, Casino, GodFather 1 and 2 but not that awful third one, and probably Scarface (Pacino version), you're left with five slots in your top ten.

A Bronx Tale: one of my favorites with Chazz Palmientieri (sp?), and Robert DeNiro playing against type as a "good" Italian. Tight little story, the mob stuff is not overblown. Best scene/line: "That's it, get in da fuckin batroom."

The Untouchables: Not specifically a mob film but definitely in the genre, solid performances by Connery and Costner, and DeNiro as Capone.

Road to Perdition: Another tight little story, this time with Tom Hanks as the quiet bad man not to be fucked with.

Bonnie and Clyde/Scarface (original version) these two are tied mostly for their iconic nature, they've been homaged and parodied and satirized so many times they might as well be credited in every mobster or buddy film made since. And the stories still hold up despite being over-plagiarized by every other film.

Johnny DangerouslyYeah it's a comedy but it's the only mobster comedy parody that holds up over the years and stays consistently funny.

That would be my top ten mobster movies. There are others, but I'll let someone else do those. As you can probably tell I favor the tight story over the sweeping epic.
