And I don't dislike Sally for being a poser. She has led the safe life craved by most people. She's the rule, not the exception. Her hostility toward me stems from her deeply buried dissatisfaction at the drudgery of it and the fact that I pointed out what parts of her reality were simply flickering shadows.

You obviously craved that life too because you tried and failed. The reason you failed is because going to work and coming home to your spouse and children was drudgery to you.

Longing to escape the stress of daily life you spent much of your time in bars with those middle aged bikers who you said have your back while attempting to be a tough guy. It's like an even worse version of the movie Wild Hogs.

Unfortunately your tough biker friends are not going to be with you when you die a lonely old man.
