OCALA Fla.
Police are searching for a teen mother, accused of leaving her 1-year-old son behind during a robbery attempt.
Allison Niemeyer and her sister, Laura, went into the Walmart on Silver Springs Boulevard and started stuffing several items of clothing inside her baby's diaper bag.
As the sisters left the store, a loss prevention officer asked them to come back inside.
Police said Allison, 19, immediately ran away, leaving the baby with her sister.
Moments later, 22-year-old Laura broke free from the employee, also leaving the baby behind.
The pair was picked up by a blue Ford Aerostar van.
Police said $57.12 worth of merchandise was recovered – a bathing suit, men’s white undershirts and four women’s shirts.
The boy is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
Allison is on house arrest until 2021 in connection with a home invasion robbery with a firearm, according to police. They said she was pregnant during that crime.
Meanwhile, court records show her sister Laura has three previous convictions for retail theft, as well as grand theft and uttering a forged instrument.
