A 16-year-old Shelton girl who was thought to have been abducted, prompting an Amber Alert, has been found safe, said Mason County sheriff's officials. She admitted to authorities she wasn't abducted and may have helped it look like a crime scene.
Officials said Viviana Gaspar-Guerrero had left her house on her own and was found at a friend's house north of Shelton Wednesday afternoon. Police said they don't believe the friend played any part in her runaway attempt.
"At this point, we're not sure she made it look like a crime," said Chief Dep. Dean Byrd, Mason County Sheriff's Office. "If she admits to that, she would be eligible for criminal charging, but at this point in time, we're still investigating."
