Sylvania Township police has announced a $2,000 privately-sponsored award for those who would help solve the murder of a man killed in June at his township residence.
Darryl Stipes, 60, was shot about 10:20 p.m. June 21 inside his home in the 3300 block of Waldmar Road and then died at Toledo Hospital hours later. The award was raised by his friends and family, township police said.
The announcement follows the July release of an audio recording of Mr. Stipes calling 911 after being shot. Mr. Stipes can be heard telling a dispatcher he was dying after being shot multiple times.
He also provided brief descriptions of the people who reportedly robbed and then shot him, saying there were two men, one white and another black.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Sylvania Township police at 419-882-2055. Police has family contact phone number.
