U.S. ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens killed in attack . GRAPHIC
#31
I still don't understand how "light" he was travelling.

I consider myself a target. Since about a year. We don't park our cars outside anymore and I drive around armed. And that's just me.

You have about 5000 crazies here which spoil the name of 24 mill, but those 5000 are on a dirty mission at the moment. Anything will do. I know that, everybody else here does too, so how the fuck an Ambassador could take it that easy is beyond me. Ours here travels in a 5 car convoy. Fully armed and armoured.

And by now everybody knows that ESPECIALLY if you are liked here in the community, your target value goes up accordingly.

And yes, here is some inside knowledge, each Embassy has 7 Marines. Depending on location some get more, but security is supposed to be provided by the local Government. On Thursday we had a nasty surprise when 1000 locals stormed the Embassy. The Ambassador made sure that none of those 1000 people will get hurt by not giving the shoot order. Once the local military came running in, the protesters left. With plenty of printers and PC's as they managed to brake down the store door. Plus all the 200.000US$ armoured Land Cruisers they burned.

So what are those 7 Marines supposed to do? They are supposed to make very sure that no confidential material falls into the hands of the other side. They are basically shredders. After that is done, then only are they supposed to look after their people. Didn't know that either before.

If you are being chopped to pieces in a corner of an Embassy while a Marine is busy sending page after page thru a shredder next to you, and you call for help, he will simply tell you "Hang on Sir, just another 28 pages and I'll be right there with you. Thank you."
