Thanks!
Do you ever recommend books for collectors? Anything you consider "must have"?
A coin collector (any collector) will probably have any books they already need. And it's almost impossible to pleasantly surprise them with a coin unless they're a beginner and you know their specific needs.
Coin collectors might be able to use accessories like scales, microscopes, or magnifying glasses. Every collector has an almost endless need for different magnifying glasses and doesn't know it until he gets it. Large low power glasses are excellent for scanning groups of coins and high power glasses for checking varieties. A square medium power glass (~8X) is great for carrying around in your glasses case. I always tear apart junk optical equipment seeking new glasses. A cheap telescope or broken microscope might be worthless but contain very valuable lenses.
If you can get accumulations of things like old copies of the Numismatist or auction catalogs they might be hugely appreciated and can be found very cheap. It's probably not a good idea to spend a lot for anything for a collector because it might be worthless to him.
