I've never really bought furniture either. Of course this is what family is for; to get the last of the use of old stuff before it goes in the garbage. People get tired of stuff and throw it away while it's still good so they can get something new. I hate waste and I know that an old chair from a family member isn't gross in some way or they'd have thrown it away and never given it to me or offered it for next to nothing. Obviously I buy mattresses and things of this nature but everything else is stuff that would have gone into a dumpster or was purchased second hand.
You can buy nice stuff at yard sales and garage sales and there's no better way to save the enviroment than to buy quality and not throw something away until it's actually garbage. If you buy garbage then you are throwing away money and the time to buy and toss it. Buy only quality and try for used and you're greener than dumbasses who spend a dollar to recycle 5c. But mostly it's cheaper and less wasteful of your valuable time.
I guess this is what I hate about the modern age most of all. It's hard to even tell the quality products from the crap. A chicken at the store that's pumped full of sodium tripolyphosphate and water pretty much looks like a real chicken and will be priced about the same usually. Over time then the SOB's find out they can get away with it and all the chicken is garbage.
People don't complain. They buy garbage in the store and go back and buy the exact same thing when it breaks the first time they use it. Instead of spending $10 a single time they spend a lifetime going back to the store buying a new one and throwing away the old one. The only people getting rich are the CEO's because the economy is based on greed and waste.
