I think healthy people usually smell good when they're working. After it gets stale they get a whiff.
The UN is necessary, but the orginal charter may need to be revised again in light of today's worldwide economic and military climate, the goals of the member countries, and the mission of the UN altogether.
The UN becoming a lawmaking body is analogous, imo, to taking soveriegnty away from the states in the US and having all lawmaking done at the Federal level - except that UN countries/nations aren't tied georgraphically, governmentally, or culturally to each other like the indivdually states. So, not a good idea, imo. Not as bad an idea as establishing an entirely separate/new body (outside of each individual country and outside of the UN) to regulate the seas gloablly if LOST is passed, imo, but still not a good idea.
I think that tuned-in people with vested interestest have a good handle on the UN, its activities, and its evolution. The tuned-inners may be the minority, but the UN's activities and monitoring those versus the UNagreed-to authority is always scoped by its member countries, imo (though I agree the general public in the US is largely indifferent when it comes to the UN).
You might have mentioned not believing in the ramps a time or two. You may swayed me to some degree. I am now 49.9% sure that it's possible that the Egyptians did not use ramp when building the ancient pyramids. I will continue to read your posts about the ramps whenever you post them.
