This is a step in the right direction for the country, imo. I hoped that decriminalization (fine instead of arrest/record) for possessing/growing a reasonable quantity would become reality across the states, but didn't think legalization would pass this time out. I'm glad it did.
Regarding Colorado, the legalization goes into effect in a month, but doesn't apply to college campuses, according to the Denver Post.
In about a month, a measure legalizing marijuana use and possession for adults will go into effect, but one place it won't have much grip on is college campuses.
When it comes to pot, there will be no high in higher education in Colorado.
"In order not to lose federal funds," said University of Colorado at Boulder spokeswoman Malinda Hiller-Huey, "we need to comply with federal law."
