............ It concerns me whenever talk of confiscating weapons comes up, I don't think it's too far fetched to believe that could happen...all under the guise of protecting Americans.

I share you concern wholeheartedly.

There is no question there are those who would disarm the citizens were it possible. And yes it would be deemed for the protection of the people.

I think tho it would be a very large mistake. The LEO's hunting Dorner are doing so not just to apprehend a criminal, but to protect themselves from his proclaimed intent to kill them. In my opinion there are many thousands of gun owners who would in fact be willimg to kill those who would attempt to confiscate their weapons.

Multiply Dorner by 50,000 or 100,000 or more. Add to that the fact that many in the LE community have already declared their intent to uphold the 2^nd Ammendment despite the intent of politicians.

And knowing many veterans and active duty servicemen, I am of the opinion that if the military were called upon to disarm their fellow countrymen, there would be widespread revolt in the ranks.

A second American Revolution is not something that can be totally discounted these days.
