8-12 minutes is pretty good warning. Not too long ago there was very little if any warning during tornados.
I'm somewhat stunned that the schools did not have underground tornado shelters. Maybe the geology of the area doesn't allow for it...
I heard that 8-12 minutes warning is good too but the area is rocky so there aren't a lot of basements.
