I wanted to add this to my last post but it was too late. I realize at a certain point you can start leaving stuff out without having to worry about your kid eating your bottle of blue pills, running with steak knives, going out in the garage and cutting their hand off with the chop saw, or drinking the bottle of bleach under the sink. The difference with those items and a gun, however, is if the kid does decide to handle it for whatever reason there is zero chance they'll accidentally pull a trigger and kill themselves or someone else. Even a kid that was taught how to handle one could still have an accident. And if that's a chance you're willing to take, you're a gun nut.
