The evidence seems to suggest there wasn't as much physical contact between Z and T as previously thought or claimed. There is evidence they struggled and there is evidence that T did in fact assault Z. What I think might have happened is during the struggle T sucker punched Z and Z thought to himself “you little bastard!” Grabbed T pulled his pistol and fired on the spur of the moment.
I'll bet he wishes he had just punched T back now.
