Mariano is from Panama, where my first wife was from.

Panama has a rich history of players that have made it to the major leagues, with Rivera being a sure-fire Hall of Famer.

Rod Carew, HOF, Omar Moreno, Manny Sanguillen, Roberto Kelly, Carlos Lee, etc., all hail from there.

I actually played baseball for an American team in 1991 made up of players from the military and the Panama Canal Commission.

We played against Panamanians in their main stadium in downtown Panama City, and I pitched from the same mound as Rivera.

Pretty cool.

BTW, my Twins suck ass and will never be competitive with the Yankees. They own us and it's getting incredibly old.
