I wonder what Hungarian Sausage your friend used to cook for you. The only one I know comes close to Chorizo. So thinly sliced you could do plenty with it, only that it's lacking the smoked Paprika and Vinegar flavor.
Now that Spanish Ham!! It is an experience!! It got to be the right one so, and just like everywhere, Black Forrest in Germany, Parma in Italy, you got to get the real thing. The Spanish one starts at about 200US$ the kg, going up to 700, and anything below is just a joke. But yes, like Caviar, Cognac and Champagne, pure orgasmic!
