I think it was a clear case of domestic terrorism as well.
If Hasan had gotten his way, his defense strategy would have been that the killings were in “defense of others,” namely members of the Taliban fighting Americans in Afghanistan. But, but the judge denied that strategy.
10 witnesses/victims have been called in the Court Martial hearing so far.
Hasan has elected not to cross-examine any of them.
His stand-by lawyers motioned to actively take over his defense, claiming that he was purposely going for the death penalty.
The judge denied that motion today and the lawyers are now preparing an appeal.
