It's being reported that some in Australia are calling for a boycott on tourism in America; big story that's generating a lot of anger there.

"It is another example of murder mayhem on Main Street," former Australian deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer told CNN's Piers Morgan.

"People thinking of going to the USA for business or tourists trips should think carefully about it given the statistical fact you are 15 times more likely to be shot dead in the USA than in Australia per capita per million people."

I'm sorry but I don't blame them. We as Americans would do the same damn thing if this was happening to our people in thier country......Js

Why are you sorry?

Nobody said they blamed some of the Australian leaders and public for their reaction to such a senseless tragedy.

Nobody said that they don't have the right to boycott tourism to the US if they feel it's too dangerous.

The killing of this promising Australian man in the US is maddening and saddening; I've seen nobody express otherwise.

I will say that your "just saying" suggestion that this is happening to "their people" over here is off-base, JsMom. Their people, Australians specifically, getting murdered in the US isn't an ongoing problem or trend. Crime and murder in general is the issue.

I, as an American, would not boycott or avoid travel to another country based on one US citizen being killed there in a random crime. But, I completely understand why some tourists don't want to visit countries with crime rates higher than their own or beyond what they consider safe.
