Yep, the convictions and the bad PR could definitely encourage schools to be more diligent in child molestation prevention and reporting.
Also, the astronomical financial burden might discourage anyone with knowledge of such crimes from turning a blind eye, IMO.
Today it was announced that seven of Sandusky's alleged victims (including his adopted son) have now reached settlements with Penn State. There are 24 more cases remaining. The amounts of the settlements have not been disclosed.
Even without the settlement amounts figured in, the cost of the fall out and legal expense to the school is over $50 million.
