I have done a bunch of hikes all over the state here and have only run onto a couple of rattlers, the local brand of Pygmy Rattler is about 8" long and his rattles are so small you can't hear them. Coiled up they look like a very small pine cone mashed into the ground.
All my time here I have never run up on one of those 16 foot Burmese pythons, sux because I could use some new boots, a belt, key fob, maybe a wallet...
