Rep. Leslie Combs says she “accidentally discharged a firearm” in her legislative office in the Capitol Annex in Frankfort, Ky., Tuesday, in a statement obtained by CBS News’ Crimesider.
No one was injured in the incident, which was investigated by the Kentucky State Police’s legislative detail.
Combs said she followed “standard safety procedures when the accident occurred” and that police found no evidence that any portion of the round traveled outside her office.
She said she has a concealed-carry permit which she obtained several years ago.
“I strongly support our Second Amendment rights and our state’s concealed-carry law, and believe just as strongly that gun safety and education must be part of that equation,” she said. “I urge everyone to be extremely cautious with their firearm. I know from personal experience how easy it is to discharge a firearm accidentally.”
“Hi I'm an irresponsible asshole my gross negligence is proof that I should be allowed to carry a concealed gun at all times!, God bless America!”
Take a sip of NRA koolaid and relax.
She obviousley did not follow proper unloading procedures for the firearm. I believe I read that the firearm in question is a Ruger LCP. That is a very small 380 cal semiauto handgun. Proper unloading consists of magazine removal, Racking the slide to eject the round that is in the chamber, WHILE keeping the booger hook off the bang stick. The LCP has a very long and heavy trigger pull as its only safety. That is not uncommon with the semiautos of today. To have a negligent discharge with this firearm one must deliberately pull that heavy long trigger. This was no accident. The idiot pulled the trigger and then blamed it on the gun.
Her response to this was , its the guns fault. I wont carry it anymore. From now on I will carry a revolver.
What a dumb ass !!!!!!
Haven't seen this first hand, but have heard that some of these things will drop the hammer from half cock. If she was racking the slide to clear the chamber round and let it slip before pulling it all the way back it nave have sent the chambered round down range. I have seen a lot of women (weak hands) do this. Damn lucky she didn't put a round into somebody. She is a dumbass. Exactly the type that should not carry a weapon like this.
The LCP is a really small gun, difficult to handle with large paws, but it still takes some relative hand strength to operate. My other half carries a featherweight 38 for just that reason.
I havent heard of this 6. I will have to go do some research about it. We have sold hundreds of these little pocket guns. They run around $325.00 new.
I just spent the last 10 minutes searching for this and found nothing about it. All I am seeing is that it will jam the gun , nothing about it going off. I will keep looking and if you should find anything please let me know.
