Well, first the English Parliament tried to minimize Charles I's arbitrary use of powers by creating the Petition of Rights. It kept the king in check, for a while. But, not for long.
He was back to his old ways soon enough and became a man on the run, eventually surrendering to Scotland, rather than English Parliament.
"Treasonous little tyrant, off with his head!" - basically what happened when he was returned to England for trial. And, off it went. Now, he's a canonized saint - a martyr for Royalists.
(I did a 9th grade book report on European kings ).
I see where you're going in comparing him to Obama in terms of using his position/power to execute national actions without Congressional (or Parliamentary, for Charles I) approval, Maggot.
But, the similarities stop there for me. I think Mr. Obama makes a much better looking king than did that tiny little Charlie fellow (though I do like his boots). He was shorter than 5'4", but all the portraits give him inches.
