Arrest Made in California Mansion Murders
The murder scene
This was a big story here when a whole family was shot while they slept in a multi-million dollar home in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
That was back on February 8th. The parents of five, who'd filed for divorce a decade earlier but still lived together and ran a business together, died of their gunshot wounds.
Their 8-year-old son was seriously wounded and paralyzed. Their 17-year-old daughter was fired at, but the shooter missed.
Anyway, the couple's business was the target of several lawsuits and it seemed to me that investigators were initially following that trail as a possible motive.
Andra and Bradford Sachs, murder victims. RIP.
Turns out, the Sachs have a 19-year-old son, Ashton Sachs, who was attending Washington State University.
Ashton Sachs, accused murderer
Ashton was arrested on Friday and charged with the murders of his parents and the attempted murders of his two siblings. He's being held in Orange County Jail without bond and will appear in court on Monday. Investigators say they have the murder weapon and that the death penalty may be pursued.
Ashton reportedly talked to investigators at length late last week, but LE is not revealing whether inheritance is the motive or many other details at this time.
