The Word Police goes to Washington
It's becoming an epidemic.
Today, 50 Democratic US Senators sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Goodell asking him to change the name of the Redskins because it's "racist".
The letter, fronted by Harry Reid, cites the NBA's handling of the Sterling scandal as the example that the NFL should be following to send a strong message that racism in sports won't be tolerated. WTF am I missing here? The situations are nothing alike, to me.
Anyway, Goodell reportedly doesn't want to change the name and says there's nothing but a positive image associated with it and how the NFL portrays it (and I can just imagine the cost and legal effort required for re-branding across all mediums).
Does anyone think that "Redskins" is a racist slur, or has anyone seen it portrayed negatively? I don't watch as much football as most and the topic has never come up in discussion with Native Americans.

ETA: Just watched Kid's video in post #15 again.
