I have not seen them gourge their food yet. I refill at night, before I go to bed as they are nocturnal. They go to it and eat some, but there is still plenty left in the morning. I may end up getting a second food bowl anyway as one seems to be an alpha and I have seen her push her sister away from the bowl. But her sister does well at pushing back.

I wish we could do that with the cats. The bigger one will eat all the food on the first day and always pushes the crazy one away from the food bowls. This last trip, the big one really didn't want to be in the carrier on the road. I think I'm gonna have to enlist the neighbor's help and leave them home next time.

My niece had a couple of rats for a year or so -- she thought they were really great pets and missed them after her family moved to a new apartment that wouldn't allow any pets of any kind.
