That was a quick week. I'm a bit surprised that GoFundMe had suspended the account and is handing out refunds. If I read their pricing right, they collect 7.9% of the total plus 30 cents per donation-they're losing out on at least $13,000 in fees.
I bet some people would still donate to it.

GoFundMe, and KFC for that matter, are getting great advertising out of this. Either company would be ecstatic paying 15-30 grand for national news coverage where they're not the bad guy.

I agree that some will still want to donate, especially those that came from people that know the girl. I'm sure there's other donation platforms they can use to fundraise from those sources, but I think it's absolutely fitting that GFM should refund all the current donations and make them start over.
