I had an appointment at the Doctors today and on the elevator on the way down there was this little bundle of pep in a wheelchair, I think she had MS or something. She was about maybe 9 and she was singing like crazy. I looked at her and said "Hi Sweety whats your name" She said Matty and I told her my name was Dan.
The Mother was a big almost bald stringy haired beer bellied She thing, she looked like an angry ape when I started talking to her kid, I could tell she was one of those foster people that was probably just chewing tabaccy on the porch. She probably just put the kid in front of the T.V. and watched roller derby all day. But I kinda ignored the stupid looks she was giving me. And I did not want to go there, it was just a quick thought that I had and my face may have revealed it but...
Anyways, I had parked way on the other side of the parking lot and Matty and her Mother were waiting for a car to come by in the corner there, by the entrance to the place.
Every 5-6 steps I took I would say " Bye Matty" and she would yell "Bye Mr. Dan" her Mother did not like it but I kept doing it every 7-8 steps anyways until I was at my car and she was about 1⁄2 a football field away.
I had to yell kinda hard to get out that last "Bye Matty " and as I opened my door and got in I heard "Bye Mr. Dan, I love you!" as she was flapping her wings waving. She looked so small from where I was but I heard it loud and clear.
I had a real tough time navigating outta that parking lot and a real tough time seeing red lights and stop signs almost till I got home.
